Well...you guy's know how fond I am of Dr Z amps....but I've wanted one of these since before I found out about Z amps even.
I decided I have to much power for most places I play these days and it was time to go for the Beaufort.
I saw one on eBay a few weeks ago, the auction ended with no bids. I contacted the guy and thought we could work something out...He vanished for a week only to resurface to say he would not be selling the amp after all...
I then contacted Mike Clark of Clark Amplification, who has moved his business to a suburb of the town I live in. I ask him to build me a new one. He called me the next day to tell me I picked a great time to ask. He just happen to have a used one in on a trade in....in excellent condition.
I went to his shop and was really cool to chat with a world famous amp crafter. He showed me the amp and demo'd it for me. Showed me how to get different tone's out of 2 volumes & 1 tone control. He also gave me some extra tubes and a canvas vintage style cover for it.
I have fallen in love with this little jewel! It is just as small as my 1-10 Ghia...well a tad wider, but no taller. Much lighter in weight...but MUCH bigger in sound & tone!! ( Even with the 10" Tubby....I never have been crazy about the sound of one 10" speaker)....
Don't kringe Corey....but the Ghia is for sale! The Ghia is a great amp, but this thing is outrageous. It hasn't got quite the volume as the Ghia, but that's what I wanted.
So...without further adieu...here is my new fave set up:
