Hey there, first, this is my first post, so hi guys!
Secondly, I'm trying to put a new amp rig together since "real life" decided to try and interfere with my attempts to make music. Circumstances changed for the better and I've since decided to reacquire the caliber of gear I sadly had to part with.
My aim is to get a good, "big sounding" rig that will still be crankable in medium and smaller venues. I'm hoping to get a 30 watt Orange head, or something similar, and I was wondering if the lower speaker power would compliment the lower wattage of the amp in a 4X12 cab. I'm under the impression (maybe wrong though?) that a 30 watt head wouldn't give regular speakers tailored towards 100 watt heads the kick they need to be "really working"?
I was also wondering whether the speaker's general tone would sit well with the mid-range heavy SG/high output P-90 combination I tend to favour. I know some speakers are already quite mid-heavy, and I suspect that using something too mid-rangey with soapbars on a slab of mahogany'd likely end up a bit on the nasal side.
Lastly, as for the sort of music I play; I tend to sit in a Sabbath/Sleep/Down/Corrosion of Conformity/Fu Manchu/Monster Magnet sort of area. The tone I'm shooting for's something near Pepper Keenan or Matt Pike. I hope this is enough information, and thanks for any help!

Four San Rafaels would be rockin' with a 30 watt tube head! Great idea.. The 100 watt speaker question.. as long as you have a full watt or two, guitar speakers are happy.. some handle high wattage better, and some sound great when driven near their limits. 30 tube watts into a 4x12 cabinet will be ..LOUD. 30w into a 2x10 cabinet will be loud too, but easier to tame and easier to carry. Let us know what you get..
