Hey all, First time here. I heard good things on the Z boards about this place, and thought id share my findings on tone tubby 12" Red Alnicos in a blackface twin reverb.
So far I've played 3 guitars through the BFTR: 68 thinline style tele, mahogany body and neck, ebony board with a lollar charlie christian set.
Gibson 335, i believe it has uncovered 57' classic pups, a rosewood board and has flamed maple body
and a Eric Johnson strat, maple neck.
I was nervous the alnico speakers weren't going to handle the twins volume as well as ceramics but i was wrong to have worried at all. They sound great at low and high volume. The 335 is my favorite of the 3 with this rig, but they all sound good. Ive been able to get nice lead tones with and without pedals. The tremolo warble with 24" of hempcone moves your blood with each pulse. It sounded ok before but the original speakers had gotten too weak. I'm very happy with these speakers. Im using them in high and low wattage amps now with great results.

Hey grassrat.. I'm a regular on Z-Talk too.. both, cool forums. Welcome. I'll bet your Twin is a smokin' amp.. that tube-tone loudness through a pair of Alnico Reds must be breathtaking. Great report! ;D
