I recently purchased a Club 40 head, designed and built by Greg Germino. Following is a description of this amp.
"The Club 40 is the defining early sound of the JTM-50 and JMP-50 Bass 50 watt heads. The amp uses an JTM/Bass circuit voiced for a flat frequency response. GZ-34 rectifier and ss rectifier are selectable by a switch allowing for the softer rounder feel of a JTM-50 or in ss mode the quicker pick attack and response of a JMP-50 Bass head."
Greg makes wonderful "Marshall Plexi" clones that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in this syle of amp. I have enjoyed mine immensely. He designed it to us either tube or solid state rectification. Hence, the JTM-50 amd JMP-50 Bass comparrison. He achieved this by adding a toggle switch to the housing. There is an opening in the back panel to access this switch.
Greg makes his amps as close to the original specs as possible. He evens specs certain parts from original manufacturers. He makes a variety of 50 and 100 watt amps that replicate various "Plexi" models.
BTW, these amps sound absolutely wonderful through Tone Tubby speakers. ;D

I'm two years late for this, but I'm with ya Joe!
I got a Gremino Classic 45 about 6 weeks ago and I'll tell ya, it is the most delicious amplifier I've ever plugged into.
Love it! Love it! Love it!
